One Year Later With Jenah + Nick: Same Love, Same Flowers, Cute New Cake

It’s not every day you get to photograph a couple that feels like they walked straight out of a Nicholas Sparks novel — but way more fun, and with better dance moves. Jenah and Nick are one of those couples that you can’t help but adore (not that I’m picking favorites or anything… ahem). From their wedding day to their one-year anniversary session, these two have been the kind of clients that make me love what I do even more.

Now, I always want to go on and on about how magical and fun their actual wedding day was — because it truly was something special — but let me just say… that day deserves its own blog post, its own spotlight, and probably its own theme song. So stay tuned, because that one’s coming soon.
So here's a little backstory: when Jenah and Nic booked their wedding package with me, it included a complimentary engagement session. Most couples use it, well… for their engagement. Logical, right? But not these two. They had the brilliant idea to save it and use it for their one-year anniversary instead. And honestly? I love that. Celebrating where it all began one year later, with a little more laughter, a lot more comfort in front of the camera, and a ton of sentimentality — it was perfect.

And speaking of sentimentality: Jenah brought all the feels to this shoot. This girl has an eye for detail like no other, and a heart that matches. She incorporated the same flowers from her wedding bouquet (cue me tearing up in the middle of the shoot), the original cake knife and champagne flutes from their big day, and even matched her dress to the wedding color palette. The aesthetic was on point, and the emotional significance? Off the charts.

Now, let’s talk about the vibe of the session. With Jenah and Nic, it’s less of a photoshoot and more of a hangout where I just happen to be holding a camera and occasionally yelling things like “YESSS, PERFECT!” or “Hold on, let me climb this ladder real quick.” And yes, I did actually bring a ladder to this shoot — because when inspiration strikes at five feet off the ground, you have to be ready. These two didn’t even blink. That’s one of the things I love most about them: they trust me fully.

Their connection is effortless and magnetic. They’re not just in love — they’re living love. You can feel it in the way they look at each other, laugh with each other, and somehow manage to make every single photo frame-worthy. It’s that rare kind of chemistry that you don’t have to pose — you just capture it.
Jenah and Nic, thank you for letting me be part of so many chapters of your love story. From engagement photos to “I do” to “one year down, forever to go,” you’ve made every moment a joy to photograph. And if you’re ever up for a two-year anniversary shoot involving a hot air balloon — you know I’m down just let me know now so I can start scheming!
This shoot also marked my first time working with Solecito Cakes — and wow, I’m officially obsessed. Not only did the cake look straight out of a Pinterest dream (so on-trend and absolutely gorgeous), but it tasted incredible too.
Solecito completely nailed Jenah’s vision — elegant, modern, and just sentimental enough to make me tear up again. It also doubled as the perfect prop. We even snuck the wedding rings into the frosting for a creative shot that turned out to be one of my faves. So if you’re still cake shopping and want something that's both delicious and photogenic? Solecito is now my go-to recommendation. 10/10 would eat and shoot again.
